Nebraska Angus Association : Events : Pen of 3 Show

Angus exhibitors from throughout Nebraska competed for top prizes at the 2003 Nebraska Pen of Three Show, hosted by the Nebraska Angus Association and Nebraska Red Angus Association. Thirty-five pens of Angus, Red Angus and commercial cattle were shown December 7 in Kearney, Neb. Judges included Chris Baum, Elgin; Gerald Peterson, York; and Doug Ward, Mabel, Minn.

Dethlefs Angus Ranch, Ravenna, showed the overall champion Angus pen and champion pen of three Angus heifers. The January 2003 females are sired by Bon View New Design 878, Sitz Alliance 6595 and Connealy Forefront.

Bill and Bruce Buethe, Elk Creek, claimed reserve champion pen of three Angus heifers honor. The February 2003 daughters of SAF 598 Bando 5175 comprise the winning trio.

Sand Dune Cattle Company, Sargent, exhibited the grand champion pen of three Angus bulls. Connealy Virginian 681 sired the bulls calved in February and March 2003.

Horizon Cattle Company, Beatrice, showed the reserve champion pen of three Angus bulls. The January and February 2003 bulls are sired by TC Freedom 104 and Bon View New Design 1407.

Kory and Neil Ostrand, Mason City, showed the champion Angus cow-calf pair. The cow, K O Miss Victoria 804, is a January 1998 daughter of B/R New Design 323. She has a February 2003 bull calf sired by Baldridge Kendrick 165K at side.

F A Beauty 024 won reserve champion Angus cow-calf pair. Kevin and Shelly Young, North Platte, and Cal & Becky Huebner, Hershey, own the January 2000 female sired by Leachman Saugahatchee 3000C. She has a March 2003 heifer calf sired by Twin Valley Precision E161 at side.

Jake and Bob Tiedeman, North Platte, exhibited the champion and reserve champion pair of bred heifers. The champion pair includes March and April 2002 daughters of TC Moonshine 001 and Northern Improvement 4480 GF. The reserve pair includes a May 2002 daughter of Rockn D Ambush 1531 and a March 2002 daughter of ER Falcon K177.

Weers Angus Farms, Diller, showed the champion pen of three Angus steers. The March 2003 steers are sired by TC Stockman 365, Weers Stockman 1616 and Frenzen Bando 4761.

Dethlefs Angus Ranch, Ravenna, showed the champion pen of three Angus heifers. The pen was later named the overall champion Angus pen of three.
